Welcome

Welcome to the redeveloped website for ex-pupils and staff of Queen’s School, Rheindahlen, BFPO 40, Germany (can now be viewed on mobile phones, tablets and PC's.

The school opened in 1955 to provide Secondary school education for the children of military and civilian personnel posted to the NATO HQ and nearby British Garrisons and RAF Stations in the lower Rhineland.

The school was renamed Windsor School in 1987 when Queen’s School and the nearby Kent School were closed and then reopened under the new name on the site of Queen’s School

The intention of this website is to provide historical and current information about the school(s) as well as to help ex-pupils and staff to re-establish contact with others.

The reference to 'historical' is particularly apt as the school closed it's doors for ever in July 2013!

News

A later edition of the Queens School Courier has been scanned, thanks to Jim White, and is available in the "Documents" section to either download or view online.

A drastically different edition, compared to it's predecessors, of the Queens School Courier has been scanned and is available in the "Documents" section to either download or view online.

The very first edition of the Queens School Courier, provided by the last headmaster of Windsor School, Mr Brian Davies has been scanned and is available in the "Documents" section to either download or view online. It is a very interesting read as it tells us a lot about the early history of the school.

Discovered ... a fantastic selection of emotional photographs of JHQ. Follow the link to "Days of Future Past" on the Links page.

A "Facebook Groups" page has been added under the "Photos" menu option above that will enable non-Facebook users to view copies of photos that have been uploaded to various Facebook Groups. It will also hopefully bring these groups to the attention of those of you who are Facebook users but are perhaps not aware of their existence. I sincerely hope that no-one objects to these photos being used in this way. The photos will be linked to their originating Facebook pages where viewers can make comments (depending on the security settings of the Facebook page).

The development of a searchable database of names of ex-pupils and staff is progressing well and it is hoped to publish it in the next few weeks for Registered users only.

Finally, work is continuing on the scanning of the documentation that has been received from the last headmaster of Windsor School. Can I please bring your attention to the "Feedback" section on this page. Any documentation received will be greatly appreciated!

Feedback

Digital Souvenir

To commemorate the fact that the school closed in July 2013 it is my intention to create a “Digital History” using feedback obtained from former teachers and pupils.

This history will be made available through this website.

I would be very grateful if any former pupils or staff could send me comments, stories, photos or scanned copies of any interesting documents such as Queens School Couriers, School Reports etc. by email by clicking on the link below:
